a bit from me

well , i am also reading the baudrillard system of objects which i concur is very interesting,
I like the bit about handicrafts and by what has been created by someones hand, and how we are fascinated because the moment of their creation can not be reproduced.......all of this part i like..... Intersting perhaps in reference to steves breakfasts and doorstops, and my subject and 3D digital prints, beceause if im right they become functional objects but also mythological....

But what i wanted to say was, i am reading alongside this book - A journey around my room by Xavier de Maistre, I love the echo from each, I hope you know it. But what i like about reading the two together is the Baudrillard one is like the kate and Lou bit of this project and the Xavier one is like me and steve, both deal with the same thing, they just approach it very differently. The first has decided and theorised until he has the answer, the second is pondering, undecided and practical. But both try to find an answer in reference to objects.

Structure. We have to look at the nature of collabertion in the context of the artemis project. So we need to address the original call for papers plus Kates abstrct we submitted. Tim asked what the difference was between an artist and an Achedemic - maybe we should discus this a bit first - he suggested that at an advanced point in a carreer after earning your spurs so to speak the cicle rejoins and there is not that much difference. I suggested that the artist builds on self knowledge rather than the Body of Knowledge within the achademy he didn't think this was really the case and that you reach a certain point where both become personalised

i agree kinda with him , as i think we are all aware of art thats been done, and we are not naive painters in that sense. Dont you think we are very aware of whats gone on and so make work with this in mind albeit subconciously at times.
I think the difference is the method of making, academics mostly through writing and thinking, ours through constructing and thinking. Same thing.
The call fro papers talks about the academy and the other/community/ us! and how us as in artists and the visual arts are collaborating. Kates thing is basically the systems of objects book.
I think the collaboration and this project can be explored / discussed in relation to the aura scorer, - the value of objects and knowledge, and how we go about understanding them. Validation - as you said about tim and academics in relation to artists
"he had discovered a way of travelling that might be infinitely more practical for those neither as brave nor as wealthy as they"
Ive also done a mind map but cant draw it on here, but will show you on friday.
